Review
The first thing that came to my attention when I opened up the box is the tweeters templates, which can be used to mount the tweeters in a surface or angled fashion. The templates for the woofers, however, are found in the instruction manual. All mounting accessories are included in the package.
The package includes a huge 6-3/4″ woofer cone with a glass-fiber construction that delivers the punchiest bass you can hear. The sound is balanced evenly and feels very full. No shrillness or dullness, for lack of a better description. Unwanted vibrations are reduced significantly using the aluminum die-cast basket. This helps bring out the most minute details.
In the XR-1703HR, Kenwood has incorporated its very own voice coil that delivers a distinctive sound that lends the Hi-Res series a signature sound. One thing I really like about this series is that all components are working in unison to provide a truly impressive experience. Try pumping a high-resolution audio file and just admire the fidelity of each detail.

Kenwood didn’t put all of its focus just on making a high-performing system, you can clearly see those aesthetics were a major concern too. The tweeter pod has a super sleek look that matches the sound quality. The dome tweeter also looks pretty awesome and it adds great warmth to the sound.
The tweeters have an incredible frequency range that can reach up to 48,000 Hz, which is right up your alley if you like listening to high-resolution formats such as FLAC or DSD and seeking a car audio speakers that can honor every single detail. Moreover, I haven’t experienced any grating quality in the sound or any harshness. I’d honestly say that my only problem with this highly competent system is its ridiculous price, but I guess that’s the price you have to pay for quality.
