Verdict

Sound is pretty much subjective and in my personal experience, I find that the TS-Z65F (our pick for best 6.5 car speakers) and the entire Z-Series from Pioneer will help you listen to music the way the artist intended it to sound. An overall costly but great investment. I highly recommend incorporating an amplifier to get the maximum results.

Pros

  • Easy to install and move
  • Wide stereo imaging and sound stage
  • Crisp sound output
  • Great power handling

Cons

  • A costly investment
  • Works better with a quality head unit and amplifier

Review

This Pioneer 6.5″ coaxial speaker system features a polyester soft dome tweeter that delivers great high frequency performance that falls nicely on the ears without grating it.

It also has great resistance to extreme environmental conditions. The aramid fiber cone does an impressive job of delivering a full, life-like sound that’s very immersive. The overall rigid construction of the system ensures longevity.

The TS-Z65F boasts an incredible frequency response range up to 96 kHz, which allows you to enjoy high-resolution music without missing out on details. The speakers’ power handling ability of 110 watts RMS is clearly displayed when driving them with an aftermarket amp. Simply put, a smooth and powerful performance.

The installation process is straightforward and easy. The lightweight and compact design helps with the installation significantly. The overall design is pretty simple and screams classic, which is great because it should blend in perfectly with the interior of any car. Also, I have to say that I’m very pleased with the highs not sound shrill and annoying. And the lows aren’t bad at all.

The positioning of the tweeter is important to the quality of the stereo imaging, which affects the overall listening experience. The Z-Series features a swivel tweeter with tri-position mounting kit to ensure a smooth and flexible installation process. The kit gives you the freedom to mount the tweeter with a variety of ways: surface mount, bracket mount or flush mount.

My favorite thing about this system is the bass quality. The TS-Z65F subwoofer are engineered in a way that allows them to take advantage of high-resolution audio files to deliver a very accurate and detailed bass sound. It’s a breath of fresh air not having to put in a sub to experience an incredible range of low frequencies.
