Verdict

If you’re looking to deliver big and punchy audio direct to your speakers or subwoofer then you can do a lot worse than the Rockford Fosgate P300x Punch. This compact 2-channel amplifier provides incredible value for money with its huge output, amazing sound quality, and extensive EQ options.

Pros

  • Convenient small size for power output
  • C.L.E.A.N technology provides super clear sound quality

Cons

  • Can be power-hungry
  • Fanless design

Introduction

If you need tank-like build quality then the P300x2 may just be the unit for you. Construction felt incredibly solid in hand and even though we wouldn’t advise tossing your nice new amplifier around, we think it could take a beating.

Rockford Fosgate have taken cooling concerns head-on with the P300x2. The unit boasts a cast aluminum heat sink which dissipates over 30% more heat than traditional extrusion heatsinks. The amplifier runs incredibly cool for such a compact unit. As this is a fanless unit you will need to take mounting into consideration, if you cram it away in an overly insulated space then it may overheat.

Installation and setup were a breeze, this isn’t one of those amps that you have to spend forever fiddling around with to get it up and running. We really enjoyed the focus on ease of use at the consumer end with this unit.

Sound Quality

When buying an amplifier for your car, especially as one that pushes as much power as this one, that sound quality is a priority. Thankfully Rockford Fosgate haven’t disappointed us with the output of this unit.

Audio is full and detailed, much more so than you’d expect from a mid-range device. Built-in Punch EQ allows you to fiddle around with the treble and bass until you get everything sounding just the way you want.

C.L.E.A.N. technology brings this amplifier right in line with much more expensive units, this proprietary technology allows the P300x2 to eliminate extraneous noise and produce a rich and clear sound.
