Car owners seldom refer to car stereo user guides. Therefore, those manuals eventually get misplaced and lost. However, many car owners miss them when they struggle to set the clock on the stereo, particularly when they have to change the time as per the daylight saving schedule.
If you have a Pioneer stereo in your car and struggling with the same issue (or maybe you need to reset your unit or see the exact wiring diagram) we’ve got you covered. In this brief guide, we will outline how to set the clock on a Pioneer car stereo. We will cover both single and double-DIN models.
How to Set the Clock on a Pioneer Car Stereo? [Single DIN]
Classic Single DIN Pioneer car stereos are pretty common in many relatively old cars. Most single DIN stereos don’t have a good menu selection and control panel compared with those found in contemporary double-DIN head units. Therefore, setting the time on them can be tricky.
Since Pioneer has launched various Single DIN models with varied controls, we will share procedures for some of the most popular designs and interfaces.
For Single-DIN Pioneer Car Stereo with MULTI-CONTROL Button?
If you have a Pioneer car stereo with a MULTI-CONTROL button, you need to follow these steps to set the clock. This button looks like a round dial. It’s also present in many newer double and single-DIN In-Dash receivers like MVH-S300BT, MVH-S400BT, FH-S500BT, DEH-S4000BT, and DEH-S4010BT.
- Turn off the stereo and press and hold the Multi-Control button for a couple of seconds. It will display a menu with different options.
- Rotate the Multi-Control knob until the menu reaches the “Clock Set”
- Press the knob upward and downward to change the number of hours and minutes, and towards left and right to jump between hours and minutes.
- Press the Escape or Source button to exit with the saved changes

For Pioneer DEH-P3600, P3800, and P3900
This DEH stereo line by Pioneer is one of the most popular single-DIN stereos on the block. Follow these steps to set the clock on these Pioneer car stereos.
- Find the Source button (often abbreviated as SRC-OFF) on the lower-left corner of the unit. Press and hold it until the stereo turns off.
- Then, search for the Function button (FUNC) at the upper right corner of the unit. Press the button and hold it until the clock appears. You have to press and hold the SRC-OFF or AUDIO button to get the clock in some models.
- Use the navigation panel (a knob with four buttons below the function button) to adjust the time. Use the right and left navigation buttons to shift between hours and minutes. Meanwhile, up and down buttons can be used to set the numbers of hours and minutes.
- After setting the clock, press the Function button to exit. In some stereos, you have to press the Source or Escape button to exit the clock setting interface.
How to Set the Clock on a Pioneer Car Stereo? [Double DIN]
Most of the old double-DIN Pioneer stereos have the same procedure to set the clock, as discussed above. On modern touchscreen Double DIN Pioneer stereos (like AVH touchscreen series), it is fairly simple to do it.
- Locate the clock on the screen and tap on it. It will open the clock settings.
- Adjust the time and date with the format you want (12-hour or 24 hours, d/mm/y or m/d/y)
- Once done setting the clock, close the window by tapping the Cancel button.
