Home » Car Subwoofers » Rockford Fosgate T1 Series vs Skar Audio EVL Series [Comparing Subwoofers]

The Rockford Fosgate T1 Series and the Skar Audio EVL Series both feature great subwoofer models. Both feature great build quality and premium materials. However, there is a clear difference in price when it comes down to it. The Skar Audio EVL Series delivers a comparable and at times better experience than the Rockford series.

Available Sizes

Both the Rockford Fosgate T1 Series and the Skar Audio EVL Series are available in a variety of models and variants.

The Rockford Fosgate T1 Series features 10-inch, 12-inch, and 15-inch subwoofer models. The models feature progressive RMS power ratings as the sizes get bigger. These models all feature 2-Ohm and 4-Ohm variants. There are also “Slim” variants of the T1 subwoofers featuring 10-inch and 12-inch models. These models both have 1-Ohm and 2-Ohm variants.

The Skar Audio EVL Series is available in 6.5-inch, 8-inch, 10-inch, 12-inch, 15-inch, and 18-inch models. Each model has its own RMS power rating that rises as the model sizes get bigger. The RMS power ratings range from 200W-1250W. The series also has dual 2-Ohm and 4-Ohm variants for each model.

Here, it is clear that the Skar Audio EVL Series has greater variety and choice when it comes to models. Depending on the size of your car or how much power you want, you have a greater choice.

However, the Slim variants in the Rockford Fosgate T1 Series are designed for smaller than traditional enclosures. Hence, you can fit them in a smaller car. When it comes to variations in impedance, the Rockford Fosgate T1 Series takes it. The models feature 1,2, and 4-Ohm variants.

When it comes to available sizes and variants, both subwoofer series are neck and neck.

Build Quality

In terms of build quality, both the Rockford Fosgate T1 Series and the Skar Audio EVL Series are top-notch. They are constructed with premium materials and feature great designs.

The Rockford Fosgate T1 Series features subwoofers with symmetrical dual progressive, roll tear-resistant poly-cotton spiders. This means that the subwoofers will be resistant to wear and tear despite continuous use.

The series also features 3.0-inch high-temperature, dual voice coils with spun-laced Nomex reinforcement collars. The voice coils are wrapped around an anodized aluminum voice coil former to give them the right shape. This premium construction improves the overall shelf life of the subwoofers.

Furthermore, the subwoofers feature a Kevlar fiber-reinforced paper cone and a rigid die-cast aluminum basket. These premium materials impart more robustness to the design.

The Skar Audio EVL series includes 2.0-inch to 3.0-inch diameter, high-temperature, 4-layer voice coils. The subwoofers also contain slug magnets to deliver the crisp lows in your music collection. They also claim to have a high-roll foam surround and a competition-grade paper cone for 3D sound.

Skar Audio EVL Series subwoofers also feature a powerful 122 oz triple-stack ferrite motor. This motor, combined with the paper cone and high-roll foam can deliver incredible sound.

Both subwoofer series is coming down to a tie still, as the features stack up against each other well. Both feature build quality that is rated to handle high RMS power ratings. The highest-end Rockford Fosgate T1 Series subwoofers feature a 1000W RMS power rating. The highest-end Skar Audio EVL Series subwoofers feature an RMS power rating of 1250W.
That’s not a very significant difference in peak RMS power.

Sound

While there’s not a very significant difference between the two series’ RMS ratings, both claim to deliver clear sound.

The Skar Audio EVL series has a maximum RMS power rating of 1250 Watts. The T1 Series has a maximum RMS power rating of 1000 Watts. This shows the range of capabilities when it comes to sheer power.

Both use high-temperature voice coils, but there is a small difference in their peak power handling. Yet, their build qualities are both solid enough to withstand loud sounds.

There is also very little difference between the sensitivity ratings of the subwoofers. The lowest-end subwoofers for Skar Audio EVL have a sensitivity rating of 83.1 dB. The lowest-end Rockford Fosgate T1 Series subwoofers have a sensitivity rating of 83 dB. The highest-end Skar Audio EVL Series subwoofers have a sensitivity rating of 88.0 dB. The counterpart in the Rockford Fosgate T1 Series has a sensitivity rating of 87.9 dB.

Both of these series of subwoofers feature 2 and 4-Ohm variants for their models. However, the Rockford Fosgate T1 Series features 1-Ohm variants as well.

Once again, both series are neck and neck when it comes to sound.

Price

Here is where the difference between the two subwoofer series becomes clear. There is a massive difference between the prices of the two subwoofers, even when comparing comparable models.

The lowest-end Rockford Fosgate T1 Series subwoofer is more expensive than the highest-end Skar Audio EVL Series subwoofer. Even if you compare similar sizes between the two series, the Rockford Fosgate T1 Series offerings are twice as expensive.

The only edge that the Rockford Fosgate T1 Series has is a 1-year warranty for each purchase. You don’t get any sort of warranty for the Skar Audio EVL Series.

If you want peace of mind, and don’t mind paying twice as much for it, go for Rockford. However, if you’re on a budget and want the best quality subwoofers at a bargain, Skar Audio is it.

Final Verdict

Both the Rockford and Skar Series of subwoofers feature great design and quality sound. Both of them also feature several variants and sizes in models to make it easy for you to choose.

However, when it comes down to price, there is a huge difference. You can get the best of Skar Audio EVL Series at a lower price than the lowest-end Rockford Series.

In today’s world, those are differences you just can’t ignore. The Skar Audio EVL Series subwoofers take this one by a mile.
